Stabbing suspect still at-large

At about 4:15 p.m., Somerville Police were called to Bob’s Store at the Twin City Plaza in Somerville for a report of a shoplifter who had stabbed a 23-year-old store detective was stabbed with a hypodermic needle as he confronted her.

“The store security personnel had monitored the female suspect as she concealed numerous items of merchandise.  A store security officer attempted to stop her as she exited the store without paying for these items,” said Lt. Paul Upton, the department’s public information officer.

“The suspect then stabbed the security officer with a hypodermic needle, striking him twice in the chest.  The suspect then entered a waiting vehicle occupied by two males and fled into Cambridge,” he said.

“The suspect is described as a white female, 20 – 30-years-old, 5’ 5” tall, weighing about 160 pounds.  She was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans,” he said.
