On Thursday, Somerville’s  Council on Aging celebrated Portugal National Day at Somerville’s Winter Hill Yacht Club.

The room was filled with the aroma of old fashion home cooked Portuguese food, as well as old Portuguese tunes being performed live on stage.  Everyone enjoyed  a wonderful lunch of a traditional Portuguese meal. The Portuguese music was performed by “MAPS Singers”  they sang  traditional Portuguese songs.  Songs were also performed by “The Father and Son Meneses,” Vivaldo (Mike) Meneses Sr.on the guitar sang with his son retired US Air force Airman / Somerville businessman Vivaldo Meneses Jr.

Also entertaining the crowd was Victor Revoredo, a retired construction worker who started singing at the age of 60 and what a beautiful voice was discovered for all to enjoy.
The COA’s  next stop is England this September.
