Well the rumor mill has already started spinning – Dennis Sullivan and Bill White were seen over in Medford having lunch and coffee at least a couple of times recently – the word is to discuss the possibility of Dennis running against The Queen of the Progressives, Senator Pat. Dennis reminds a lot of people of the way Charlie Shannon used to bring together different individuals and groups, not like Queen Pat and her PDSers – one issue, one side – theirs and only theirs. Maybe Dennis is asking for Bill to repay that debt back when Bill ran against Pat – when he was a Republican and Dennis supported him?

Sources close to Newstalk also mention Alderman Bob Trane is considering a run against the other Progressive Prince – Rep. Carl Sciortino РBob would make a formidable candidate with his background and his recent victory in Ward 7 Рwe won’t deny that a few of us want Bob to run. And we all know that Bob won’t run a dirty campaign.

Princess Rebekah (the Progressive’s hate it when we call her Princess) is concerned about the buzz around that fellow Alderman Dennis Sullivan is considering a run for Senator. The story we heard (third and forth hand) was that Rebekah got a call from Dennis asking for her vote for President of the BOA Рshe immediately asked if the rumor was true and if so, why would he get involved and run against her friend Pat Рwho is her mentor and hero (not her words we’re sure) Рwe don’t know if she’s voting for Dennis now. The question here is simple Рis it ok for the PDS’ers to get involved in other races but not ok for anyone else? Rebekah ought to worry about her support on the BOA for Vice President Рwe hear she doesn’t have the votes, or does she?

Seems there were four heroes last week at the 9-11 Harvard Place fire РOfficer’s Derek Dottin, Steve St. Hillaire and Alex Capobianco and Sylvester Moore. All three were treated and released from the hospital for smoke inhalation. The very first to arrive on the scene was Officer Alex Capobianco, who rushed into the blazing building at its height to save Elaine Thibeault from near death. This is not the first time Alex was a hero and won’t be the last Рthese three officers and one firefighter are great examples of how our public safety officers put their lives on the line every single day and should be congratulated.

Elaine Thibeault, the owner of 9-11 Harvard Place, is at Mass General Hospital where she is in serious condition Рwe certainly hope she’s up and around very soon. Elaine is the Personnel Director at the Middlesex Probate Court and works for Register John Buonomo.

Just four days after the Harvard Place blaze there was another serious fire in the city this time at the East Somerville Community School. The whole community will miss this building. A lot of good times have been had there by neighborhood kids and parents. Ward 1 School Committee member Maureen Bastardi is doing a great job keeping parents informed and we have faith the relocation of students will be handled properly.

Power struggle on the School Committee for Vice Chairman we hear – seems that Maureen Bastardi was screwed once before out of the Chairmanship – we now hear that she could have the support to be Chairman now if she wants it‚ĶWe think Maureen deserves at least to be VP in all fairness, but the so-called ‚ÄúProgressives‚Äù on the board won‚Äôt hear of that.

Good Times will be hosting a Memorial Show this coming Saturday Night in Memory of the late Stephen Goggin, who passed away from a massive heart attack as he was walking up Walnut Street hill Рon the way to cash his paycheck this past October. Steve worked as a security guard at the Clarendon Hill Towers in West Somerville as well as a Vietnam Vet. Doors open at 6 p.m. and local band “Sex Magic” will start playing at 9pm Рwe hope a nice large crowd shows up in support.

Ok so we like Joannie the waitress, but apparently the new owners of the Paddock Restaurant don’t and that’s fine, but to cut mashed potatoes off the menu is the last straw. We still think the owners should at least talk to her instead of having the bartender do their bidding. She does have a pretty loyal following of fans and some of us were looking forward to going back – that’s just too bad now.

All associated with ERA The Norton Group and The Somerville News will be celebrating the Holidays this coming Thursday evening at the “On The Hill Tavern” from 6:30 p.m. on Рas usual there is a good sized crowd expected. The Tavern owner Bob Antonelli is a local guy that runs a top-notch place – we’re looking forward to being there ourselves Рand yes, celebrating.
