“Vinyl Street” is one of 20 Bands to Provide Entertainment on 20-Mile Route

Vinyl Street, a co-ed, post-collegiate a cappella group based out of Somerville, is one of 20 live entertainment acts that will be playing at Project Bread’s 44th annual Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 6th. Each year, entertainment groups are stationed throughout the 20-mile Walk route, which starts at the Boston Common and weaves through Brookline, Newton, Watertown, and Cambridge.

On May 6, Vinyl Street will be performing near Temple Beth Zion in Brookline, between checkpoints one and two of the Walk route, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Come support your local band and join 40,000 Walkers for a fun event aimed towards ending hunger in Massachusetts.

“Vinyl Street is delighted to have the opportunity to sing for the second consecutive year at the Walk for Hunger” says Joanna Howarth, member of Vinyl Street on behalf of her fellow members. “After a soul-warming experience last year, we look forward to bringing joy to the swarms of 2012 walkers. Whether Walk participants hear us for a few notes as they continue walking by, or they stop to hear us sing a few songs, we make sure to also applaud THEM (in between songs, of course!) as they continue on their 20 mile journey. We are honored to be able to contribute our music and make the walk that much more enjoyable for those who have worked hard to raise money and are literally putting in the miles to combat hunger.  The Walk for Hunger is undoubtedly one of our most favorite performances of the year.”

The Walk is a family friendly event, and musical guests aid in creating a safe and fun environment while providing the Walkers with energetic and motivating entertainment that is suitable for all ages. The Walk for Hunger is a Massachusetts tradition, and fosters a welcoming environment bringing family and friends together in the fight against hunger.
