Somerville’s Winter Hill Yacht Club hosted a community event with a  CPR and AED (Automated Electronic Defibrillator) course Wednesday evening.

The American Heart Association approved course was voluntarily presented by veteran Burlington Police Detective Paul Glejzer who donated his time for training the group. He also brought in special training mannequins and training defibrillators along with an American Heart Association training video on CPR, AED use, and first aid.

The group got to practice the life saving CPR skills on the training mannequins as well as with proper training on AED use as well as breathing and choking life saving techniques.

The American Heart Association has developed these courses in an effort to help in the aid of first response emergencies and reduce the number of deaths caused by cardiovascular disease.
