Police were dispatched to the Little Sisters of the Poor seniors facility last week in response to reports of a disturbance on the premises.

Upon arrival, officers questioned witnesses who reportedly stated that a highly intoxicated man was running up and down the hallways, harassing and behaving belligerently towards residents, and that he was last seen entering one of the apartments.

As the officers approached the apartment they reportedly heard a scream coming from within. They entered the apartment and found the man in question lying on the floor on his stomach, shouting obscenities, police said. He was reportedly asked to cease using the foul language and to quiet down, but instead rose and lunged at one of the officers, according to police.

After a brief struggle, Shawn Byron, 44, of Malden, was finally subdued and removed from the premises. He was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.
