The red hot Somerville Storm U14 wrapped the season with an impressive six game winning streak.

The Somerville Storm U14 ended the season on a roll winning their last six games to finish the season 10-4 tied for sixth in their division.

In the final week of the season, the Storm defeated the Wellesley Raiders 20-15 and the Everett Raiders 14-3.

On August 8 every Storm player scored a run and as they put together nine timely hits around a series of walks. The Storm was again anchored by experienced hitting as Brianna Del’Isola drove a triple to the gap, scored twice and drove in three while Amanda Grace was a perfect three for three in the lead-off spot with three runs scored.  Brenna Foristall was patient at the plate working pitchers for four walks and runs scored. Dierdre Matthews contributed strongly at the plate with a pair of hits, a walk and three runs scored. Kayla O’Regan added to the offensive night going two for three with an RBI and runs scored.

Though not as strong on defense in Wellesley, the Storm got stronger as the game progressed committing only one error in the final four frames after giving up nine runs in the first two innings.  The Storm played hard behind the combined pitching of Emily Liberato (1 2/3 inning), Jen Toner (1 1/3 inning) and Amolee Hawkins (2 innings).

In their final game of the year the Storm allowed only three runs on a combined one-hitter by Amolee Hawkins and Jen Toner, both of whom return to U14 Storm next season. The defense was strong committing only one error in the game and recording nine outs in the field. Charlotte Schofield continued outstanding defense in centerfield recording a big out with runners on second and third in the third inning and finished her time with the 14U Storm going two for two at the plate.  First year players for the 14U Storm Emily Liberato, Emily O’Regan and Marissa Toner continued their outstanding progress combining for five runs going a combined two for five at the plate.

Coach Tim Hawkins and CJ Azubine want to congratulate and wish the best of luck to Amanda Grace, Brianna Del’Isola, Charlotte Schofield and Brenna Foristall who all move up to 18U next season.  We are very proud of your leadership, effort and attitude during this past season, and we wish you the best of luck in the upcoming year.
