Weather permitting, beginning on Sunday, August 9 and over the next approximately one week, City contractors will be performing overnight sewer and storm drain cleaning in your neighborhood as part of the City’s Annual Sewer and Storm Drain Inspection Program.

To complete this work, crews will be briefly opening manholes to clean and perform video inspection of sanitary sewers and storm drains. Information gathered will help inform future repair work.

Schedule of Work:

  • Cleaning/inspections are scheduled to begin Sunday, August 9 and continue through Friday, August 14.
    • Work in any particular location is not expected to take more than 1-2 nights.
  • Work hours are approximately 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other factors.

  • Broadway between:
    • Liberty Ave and Paulina St
    • Josephine Ave and Rogers Ave
    • Hill St and Curtis St
  • Elm Street between Davenport St and Holyoke Rd
  • Washington Street between:
    • Hanson St and Magnus Ave
    • Parker St and Webster Ave
  • Webster Avenue between:
    • Everett St and Newton St
    • Prospect Street and the Cambridge city line
  • Somerville Avenue between:
    • Laurel St and Loring St
    • School St and Quincy St
  • Holland Street between Winter St and Dover St

Impacts: 

  • Potential for some moderately elevated noise levels during work.
    • No excavation (digging through the roadway) is required to complete this work.
  • Lights from construction vehicles and equipment will be in use.
  • Some temporary on-street parking restrictions may be in place. Please observe posted signage.
