June 19, 1954 – July 21, 2026

Born on June 26, 1954, in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, John was the cherished son of the late Manuel Pacheco Medeiros and Maria Lopez Medeiros. He immigrated to the United States at a young age, carrying with him the values that would define his life—faith, humility, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to family.

John spent more than fifteen years working as a technician at the Winter Hill Portuguese Bakery in Somerville. He was known for his dependable nature, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether at work or at home, John believed there was dignity in honest work and took great pride in providing for those he loved.

Above all else, John was a family man. He was the beloved husband of Louise (Spinucci) Medeiros, with whom he shared many years of marriage built on love, commitment, and partnership. Together they created a home centered around family traditions, laughter, and unconditional love.

He was the proud and devoted father of Amanda McLaughlin and Cristina Medeiros, and son-in-law Anthony McLaughlin. His greatest title, however, was “Vovô.” John adored his grandchildren, Manuel, Amilio, and Ollie, and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying their company, nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, John is survived by his loving siblings, Odete, Álvaro, José, Lurdes, and Dina. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ruí and Carlos. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cartwright Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Avon, followed by burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Avon.
