The Somerville Police Department is warning the public not to attend a rumored illegal street takeover this weekend (Saturday evening, March 14, anticipated) at Assembly Row. The Somerville Police Department strongly urges the public not to attend. Participants and spectators may be subject to arrest. These events pose a serious risk of injury or death to drivers, bystanders, and first responders. 

Street takeovers, which can draw weapons and lead to violence, occur when groups illegally seize a public intersection or roadway, blocking traffic so drivers can perform dangerous stunts before gathered onlookers.

SPD is deploying an enhanced police presence to the area and will take enforcement actions against any illegal activity.
