The Somerville Fair Housing Commission is actively seeking one new member. The open seat is reserved for a tenant who is eligible on the basis of income for assisted housing in the city. We invite all tenant residents to consider applying.
What is the Somerville Fair Housing Commission?
The Fair Housing Commission works to ensure that all current and prospective Somerville residents have equal access to housing, free from discrimination and prejudice. The FHC plans annual educational events, reviews complaints submitted, does tabling at community events, and meets with City of Somerville legislative staff on fair housing issues.
Who can join?
Somerville community members who are over the age of 18 and are current tenants may apply. Their household must be eligible on the basis of income for assisted housing (up to 80% of Area Median Income, see chart below). Applicants with specific questions regarding eligibility should reach out to the staff liaison.

What is the time commitment?
The committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday of each month for one hour. Members commit to serving three-year terms.
