Andrea Ballou
Andrea Ballou is the author of Other Times, Midnight (Persea Books, 2025), winner of the 2024 Lexi Rudnitsky First Book Prize. She earned her PhD from the University of Chicago in Romance Languages and Literatures and an MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University. She has been awarded artist residencies at Civitella Ranieri and Joya Artists-in-Residence. A recipient of a National Resource Fellowship, a Tinker Foundation Grant, and Artist Fellowships from the Somerville Arts Council, Andrea has taught Spanish literature, language and creative writing at numerous universities and colleges. In 2018 she founded the Poetry Lab for Elders at the VNA Senior Living in Somerville, where she continues to teach. She divides her time between Massachusetts and mid-coast Maine.
These events are free and open to all, no matter your genre or background. Whether you have academic experience in a writing field or are simply curious to learn more about different types of writing, this space is an opportunity for you to share your work and/or network with local artists.
