Obituary: Susan Demeo

On February 7, 2026, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

Susan Demeo, age 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, January 4, 2026.  She leaves behind her high school sweetheart and dearly loved husband Bob; sisters Diane and Tricia; sons Tom and Ben; their wives Heather and Jess; and her grandchildren Tommy, Brynn and Molly.

Raised in Somerville, Sue was the second oldest of five sisters born to Tom and Denise Murray, a role she took to heart. She was fiercely loyal, serving as her sisters’ confidante, cheerleader and boss. She was the ultimate die hard Boston sports fan, a passion she learned from her parents and carried through to her sons whom she cheered on from the sidelines of all of their sports games.

A resident of Townsend for 41 years, Sue and Bob left Somerville with their young boys for a new adventure.  Sue loved all animals, feeding generations of birds and wildlife who came to visit and cherishing her fur babies who were lucky enough to live with her and Bob over the years.

A force to be reckoned with throughout her life, her light won’t be diminished by her passing, but rather brighter by our memories and abiding love.

Sue is predeceased by her parents, Tom and Denise and her sisters, Denise and Janet. The family is deeply mourning our loss and urge everyone to hold their loved ones closer. There will be no services per Sue’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sue’s name to Mass Audubon.
