Somerville’s holiday schedule for Martin Luther King Jr. day

City buildings will be closed Monday, January 19, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. day. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day beginning Monday.

The East Branch of the Somerville Public Library (115 Broadway) will be open as a warming center from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday, January 19. All other library branches and City buildings are closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Winter Overnight Warming Center will be open normal hours nightly (5 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.).

Additional tips to help stay safe and warm include:
-Dress in layers and cover as much exposed skin as possible when outdoors.
-Minimize time outside, including for pets.
-Check in on family & neighbors.
-Follow all safety precautions if using space heaters. Do not use a stove or oven as a heat source.
