Drug unit detectives arrested a Brook Street man Friday suspected of distributing large quantities of prescription drugs.

Brian Costa, 24, of 26 Brook St., was arrested and charged with possession to distribute a class B drug after police allegedly found 99 percodan tablets in his car. Police allegedly saw Invi Aliaj, 24, of 33 Highland Ave., Saugus, place an unknown object in the area where they later found the pills.

While police were arresting Costa, they saw Aliaj and Christopher Rizzo, 27, of Nahant, drive by slowly. Police recognized it as the same motor vehicle they had seen earlier and tried to stop it.

In response to flashing blue lights and siren, Aliaj allegedly turned the wrong way onto Glen Street at a high rate of speed, forcing oncoming traffic to the side of the road.

Detectives saw a small orange bottle thrown out the passenger window and stopped the vehicle at Broadway and Franklin Street, police said.

Police allegedly found two suboxone pills on Aliaj. They also found the discarded pill bottle with Rizzo’s name on it containing marijuana, suboxone and clonazepam.

Aliaj was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a class B drug, speeding and failure to stop for police. Rizzo was charged with possession of a class C drug and possession of a class B drug.
