Two Somerville track stars are on their way to compete in a national tournament in New York City this month.

Nicole Genard and Taija Clark qualified to compete in the New Balance Scholastic Track Championships to be held in New York City March 11 to 13.

Genard will compete in the 60 meter hurdles, after qualifying earlier in the season. Genard has the eleventh fastest time in the country with her time of 8.20 in the 55 meter hurdles.

Clark will compete in the long jump. She qualified to compete in the Emerging Elites section, which includes the younger up and coming athletes in the country.  She qualified with her jump of 5’2 at the state finals.
