Join the Somerville Museum  for special exhibition open hours and photoshoot with artist, Iaritza Menjivar. Wednesday, February 14 | 6pm – 9pm

Grab your spouse, partner, roommate, bestie, sibling, or anyone you love and join us for a very special event. Open for special hours this Valentine’s Day come visit the current exhibition, Museo Inmigrante, and enjoy a photoshoot with award-winning photographer, Iaritza Menjivar. We’ll provide the props, background, and expertise. This Valentine’s Day do something a little different, support your local museum, and share the love with professional photos.

Admission: $16/person; $12 for active Somerville Museum members (use code VDAYMEMBER for discount)

Timing: Purchasing tickets does not guarantee a specific time slot. This event is first come, first served.

 

About Iaritza Menjivar:

Iaritza Menjivar, a photographer based in Somerville, Massachusetts. In 2023, Iaritza was awarded a Sustaining Practice Grant from the Collective Futures Fund. In 2022, she earned recognition as one of WBUR’s “The Makers: 15 Artists of Color Leaving an Imprint on Massachusetts..” Her pandemic-era work and retrospective of her projects is highlighted in the short documentary film, “We Are Here Too.”

Iaritza’s photography has been published in The Washington Post and The New York Times. Notably, her piece, “Honoring a Debt to Immigrant Parents,” is a photo essay from her First Generation series. She is a featured photographer for Somerville Museum’s current exhibition, Museo Inmigrante: Stories of Resilience from Somerville’s Padres Latinos.
