In a 52-46 loss against Wachusett High School, Senior guard Kelsey Garrity scored 24 points scoring her 1,000th point in the third quarter for the Lady Highlanders at the free throw line. Kelsey is the third Lady Highlander in school history to reach 1,000 points behind Joelle Martin in 2002 with 1,280 career points and Stacey Dell’Anno in 1995 with 1,159 career points. She is the fifth overall Highlander to reach this career milestone.

Kelsey always dreamed of being a 1,000 point scorer for Somerville and this Friday night she launched $1,000 for 1,000 points campaigned which raised money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of her mother, Jean Garrity who passed away when Kelsey was three.

The Somerville Highlanders (9-9) are one game shy of qualifying for the tournament. They face Medford High School and Lynn English next week.
