Common Crossings Quilt with blue ribbon.

Antinette Evans is the co-owner of Quilters Common located in downtown Wakefield, rear of the Alano Building. In addition to being a business owner, Antoinette is a talented quilt designer and frequently offers block of month programs where quilters create one block per month, that block being a custom design by Antoinette.

At the end of 12 months, they have 12 blocks, when sewn together create a large quilt. There is a large local following for these monthly programs which bring people from many towns (and other states) to Wakefield.

Virginia Post, a Somerville resident, participated in the “Common Crossings” block of month program last year and recently entered her beautiful quilt at the Topsfield Friar where she won 1st Place and Judges Choice Award.

This is a very big deal! Quilt pattern designed by Antoinette Evans of Quilters Common, quilt top pieced by the talented Virginia Post and finally, long arm quilted by Julie Legere, Ironworks Quilting of Saugus, Mass. Local artists are so excited to have seen the quilt and have such a wonderful win for customers of Quilters Common.

L to R: Antoinette Evans, owner of Quilters Common and Virginia Post, award winning quilter.

Virginia Post is a lifelong resident of Somerville and has been a loyal customer of Quilters Common since they opened their doors in 2010. She partakes in classes offered at the store as well as Wednesday sit n sew where she gets assistance as needed from shop personnel. The entire staff is so excited to see her take home this blue ribbon.

We invite any quilter to stop in to Quilters Common and ask about the custom quilt patterns (some are ready as kits) and classes that are offered. The Common Crossings quilt is offered in 2 distinct colorways and samples are hanging in the store. Quilters Common is open daily with the exception of Tuesday when they are closed.

Congratulations to the three very talented quilters involved with Ginny’s amazing Common Crossings quilt.
