City officials are looking into allegations of financial mismanagement in the Council on Aging.

Council on Aging Director Cindy Hickey has been on vacation since last week, said city spokesman Michael Meehan. Meehan said thus far in the investigation, officials have found no specific wrongdoing on Hickey’s part.

The investigation was prompted by allegations of financial mismanagement, Meehan said.

“Everything we have looked into has turned out to be not a problem,” he said. “Cindy Hickey is still very much employed by the city.”

Hickey has been Council on Aging director since January 2004 and has worked for the city since 1993, Meehan said.

City officials plan to seek an outside auditor to look into the department’s finances.
