Sessions will be held throughout June to give community members the opportunity to share their experiences with accessibility in Somerville and help create priorities for the City’s ADA Transition Plan.

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville Department of Racial and Social Justice invite Somerville community members to join an upcoming ADA Community Survey Focus Group session to make their voices heard as the City updates its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan.

“The community’s feedback is vital to moving forward with accessibility improvements within Somerville,” said ADA Coordinator Adrienne Pomeroy. “I look forward to hearing from Somerville community members in these sessions and working to carry their feedback and priorities into our Transition Plan updates.”

Online registration is now open for the first two virtual sessions:

Registration can also be completed by calling 311(617-666-3311). Registration links for later sessions will be shared on the RSJ website, the city calendar, and via city and RSJ social media feeds. Please contact the RSJ Department at rsj@somervillema.gov for more information or with any questions.

Mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Somerville’s ADA Transition Plan is a living document that has helped govern the city’s ADA compliance and disability access since 2015. Feedback from the ADA focus group sessions and the ADA Community Survey will assist in updating the Transition Plan and responding to urgent community needs.

The ADA Division invites community members to reach out to ADA Coordinator, Adrienne Pomeroy, at apomeroy@somervillema.gov for more information or if they would like help scheduling a focus group with their neighbors, friends, or other community members who might be interested in participating in a closed session.
