Somerville 2023 Yard Waste Pickup has begun

On April 19, 2023, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

The city’s yard waste pickup program resumed for 2023 on Tuesday, April 18. Yard waste is picked up weekly in the early spring (April 18 through May 12, 2023) and mid-to-late fall (October 10-December 8, 2023) and is picked up every other week during the intervening weeks. To check the full yard waste calendar, please visit somervillema.gov/yardwaste or call 311 (617-666-3311).

On pickup weeks, yard waste should be put out with your trash and recycling on your normal pickup day and be placed in either a paper yard waste bag or you may use a trash barrel with a “Yard Waste Only” sticker on the barrel. Tree branches should be tied into bundles no larger than 3 ft. x 3 ft.

Stickers are available free of charge at the DPW Building, 1 Franey Road, or the Welcome Desk in the entrance of City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue. To request that a sticker be mailed to you, please call 311 or email 311updates@somervillema.gov.

Please keep in mind that pickup will be on a one-day delay this week (April 1721) due to the Patriot’s Day holiday on Monday, April 17. Place trash, recycling, and yard waste out one day after your normal pick-up day.
