Coffee Break

Life in the Ville by Jimmy Del Ponte

I’m a big coffee drinker. I hang around with a lot of people who also enjoy a good cup of coffee. I drink coffee basically all day. I make it myself with K cups or instant but the day usually starts out with a nice large Dunkin’s coffee.

I’m not a Starbucks fan. The coffee is good but I don’t like the whole set up with the silly names, etc. It seems there two camps in Somerville. There are the Dunkin’s people and the Starbucks people. But there were a lot of choices around Somerville for a good cup of coffee. My Somerville social media friends helped me grind out this story.

“Three Little Figs and Winter Hill Brewing are great also.” (There’s always a crowd there)

“Magnificent Muffin & Bagel has really good iced coffee.”

“True Grounds in Ball Square.”

“I still weep for the iced Americanos at the Someday Cafe.”

There’s plenty of coffee places in Somerville including Cumberland Farms, Starbucks, and Dunkin’s within walking distance of each other.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I feel that Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and McDonald’s McCafé coffee are a tie for me.

Coming in the strong second is Cumberland Farms coffee. You can’t beat the price either. 99 cents, any size. Boy what a deal! I’m sure our old friend Juan Valdez would enjoy a nice cup of coffee with me.
