Somerville Police Log Jan. 15 – Jan. 20

Arrest
On 1/17/23 at approximately 12:17 p.m., Somerville Police responded to a business on Mystic Ave for report of a larceny. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the manager who stated a male party stole numerous items from the store then brandished a knife and swung it at him. Officers observed the male fleeing toward the Assembly train station and ordered him to stop. A knife was recovered from his pocket and he was placed into custody.
 

Commercial Breaking & Entering
On 1/17/23 at approximately 5:37 a.m., Somerville Police responded to a business in Assembly Row for a past breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers observed the front windows of the business were shattered with a rock. The store manager stated several high priced clothing items were stolen.
 
Residential Breaking & Entering
On 1/18/23 at approximately 6:40 p.m., a male and female party came into the station and reported a residential breaking and entering that occurred approximately 2 to 3 weeks ago in the area of Washington St & Myrtle St. It was reported that the victim was out of his apartment and when he returned, he noticed cash and tools were missing.
 
Assault
On 1/23/23 at approximately 11:07 a.m., Somerville Police responded to Newton St & Emerson St for report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated she got into an argument with a male party on Prospect St and he repeatedly punched her in the head. Officers located and identified the suspect.
 
Shooting
On 1/18/23 at approximately 6:20 p.m., Somerville Police responded to Memorial Rd for report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located nine shell casings and discovered ballistic damage to several vehicles. There were no injuries reported. The incident is still under investigation.
