The City of Somerville seeks volunteers to staff The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial during its stay in Somerville, November 10-14, at the Mass General Brigham Great Lawn at Assembly Row (399 Revolution Dr.).

The Moving Wall is a half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., that travels across the country to give those who can’t get to Washington a chance to experience the power of the memorial. Like the original monument, The Moving Wall displays the names of more than 58,000 American service members who died in the Vietnam War. Next month, it makes its way to Somerville for the first time over Veterans Day weekend.

The Moving Wall will be open for public viewing 24 hours a day while it’s in Somerville. Volunteers can sign up for a four-hour shift to assemble the wall on November 10, to provide general visitor support throughout its stay, or to clean up the site on November 14. An orientation for all volunteers will take place Monday, November 7, at 6:00 p.m. at the Mass General Brigham Great Lawn.

To sign up, go to somervillema.gov/movingwall or call the Department of Veterans’ Services at 617-625-6600 ext. 4710.

Individuals with disabilities who need auxiliary aids and services for effective communication, written materials in alternative formats, or reasonable modifications in policies and procedures, in order to access the programs and activities of the city or to attend meetings, should contact the City’s ADA Coordinator, Adrienne Pomeroy, at 617-625-6600 x2059 or apomeroy@somervillema.gov.
