The Somerville Boys and Girls Cross Country teams recently competed in the illustrious Catholic Memorial Invitational. The meet, featuring some of the best schools in eastern Massachusetts, was held at Franklin Park last Saturday. Somerville standout runner Samuel Buckley came in 5th overall, as the Highlanders placed four runners in the top 50 to secure 5th place overall. The Lady Highlanders had strong performances as well, as both teams have excelled in other elite meets all season. Both squads had impressive showings at the Amherst Invitational, the Fort Devens Challenge, and the Frank Kelley Invitational. The Boys and Girls teams remain undefeated in Greater Boston League action, with unblemished 6-0 records. The teams close out the regular season at the Greater Boston League (GBL) League Championships, held at MacDonald Park on October 26. Top ten finishers in both races are designated GBL All Stars.
