The Somerville Historic Preservation Commission will be offering tips on how to research the history of your family or house, Monday, May 23 at the West Branch Library, 40 College Ave, from 7:30-8:30 pm. The talk will feature Kevin O’Kelley, the long-standing and very knowledgeable Head of the Reference Library at the Central Library, and Julia Blake on behalf of the Commission.

Ideas, with slides, to help you research the history of your family through a mini tour of genealogy resources at the Somerville Library and beyond. Julia will explain how to get started on learning more about your house, prior residents, and the surrounding neighborhood.

 

Go early to explore the newly renovated and enlarged Library where many of its original features have been restored, including the upper story skylight, and know that the building is now fully ADA accessible.
