It’s official! The City of Somerville’s Snow Plows now have their own unique names thanks to Somerville’s pre-K and Kindergarten students and teachers. Somerville Public Schools pre-K and K classrooms partnered with Somerville’s Department of Public Works on a Snow Plow Naming Contest as a fun way to help our youngest learners learn and think about some of our city’s important community helpers during the winter months. Students enjoyed learning about how Somerville snow plow drivers help to keep our streets safe and clear after a winter storm.

Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers were asked to submit their top snow plow name for their classroom. Entries were due by March 9th and five winners were selected by DPW. All winning classrooms will receive a visit from their snowplow and a driver in the coming weeks. Great job to all the contest participants and congratulations to the following winners:

First Place – OVERDRIVE – Ms. Scrima’s Kindergarten class, Kennedy School

Second Place – KHIONE- THE GODDESS OF SNOW – Miss Bruneault’s Kindergarten class, Healey School
