A 17-year-old Arlington woman rang in the new year by drunkenly spitting on officers and yelling obscenities before 7 a.m. on Jan. 1, police said.

Meredith O’Neill was on Preston Road and charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police said she appeared to be extremely intoxicated.

“She began spitting and several of her frothy lungers landed on my and Officer McGrath’s uniform jackets,” Officer Daniel Rego wrote in his incident report.

Police said O’Neill continued to spit and yell obscenities and racial slurs.
