Produced by 2020 BIPOC Grant Series winner Sur5ILL, Somer Fest hosts its third annual outdoor multi-genre concert. There is something for everyone: Patrons who enjoy live music will be treated to punk rock and acoustic pop covers; fans of dancing can get their collective groove on to our DJ spinning tunes from reggaeton to top 40 hits; comedy buffs can chortle at some of the brightest stars in Boston’s stand-up comedy scene; and those who are amazed by items disappearing can stand in awe of magic.

 

Somerville Rock + Roll Yard Sale

Union Sq. Plaza, 90 Union Sq, Somerville, MA
Join us as What Cheer produces Rock And Roll Yard Sale.  Vintage clothing peddlers and DIY crafters will join record vendors, making for a unique shopping experience. There will be all sorts of music-related formats – including vinyl, CDs, cassettes and 8-tracks – and audio gear, music magazines, silk-screened posters and more. This is a perfect way to support DIY and independent small businesses.
 
 
 
 
 
Project Misik: In A Somerville Yard

Blessing of the Bay Boathouse, 32 Shore Drive, Somerville, MA
Join Zili Misik and the Somerville Arts Council for a CELEBRATION IN A SOMERVILLE YARD with our featured guests, Solomon Murungu (Zimbabwean mbira), Becky Bass (Trinidadian steel pan), Peniel Guerrier (Haitian drum & dance), DJLadyLy, and Gourmet Kreyòl Food Truck. There will be FREE and open workshops and after, stay to enjoy a concert with all featured guests, including award-winning, all-female band, Zili Misik.

1:00 – 2:00 p.m. free workshop in Zimbabwean mbira, led by Solomon Murungu
2:00 – 3:00 p.m. free workshop in steel pan, led by Becky Bass
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. free workshop in Afro-Haitian folkloric drum and dance, led by Peniel Guerrier
4:00 – 5:00 p.m. free concert with all featured guests and all female award winning Boston-based band Zili Misik
Plus Gourmet Kreyol food truck and DJ Lady Ly
