Treasures of the Mind, Comforts For the Soul

Jennifer Purcell

Jennifer Purcell likes a great many things.
She likes cats.
She has three of them-Oliver, George and Beau.
She likes Kevin Gray and The Phantom of the Opera;
She likes to sing; it’s her favorite hobby.
She finds TV series both exciting and relaxing.
She likes to speak French and enjoys the French cuisine.
She likes most European things.
Maybe she would like to visit Paris one day.
She likes aesthetically pleasing things,
Like grey fluffy pillows,
And Bohemian-style objects.
She likes warm things,
Like wrapping herself up in a blanket like a tortilla on a chilly winter evening.
And soft, sweet scents,
Like cookies just after coming out of the oven,
And rosewater.
She also likes fires in fireplaces.
And Christmas.
Perhaps she also likes other holidays.
She likes Gaston Leroux, Victor Hugo and JoJo Moyes.
Probably others, too.
Traveling is fun;
She likes parasailing over the white beaches and clear waters of the Turks & Caicos.
Maybe she also likes staying home.
The soft, slow hum of a violin bow as it glides across the A string, she finds very
calming.
The salty ocean breeze.
She likes the freezing waters on a hot summer day,
And also the sand.
She likes her hometown friends,
But not her hometown itself.
