The Boston Bruins Alumni Team led by Rick Middleton will join Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville Police hockey team to support Somerville Youth Hockey at the newly renovated Veterans Memorial Rink on Somerville Ave. on Saturday, November 27th.  Middleton’s team will include Terry O’Reilly, Ken Hodge, Ken Linseman, Bob Sweeney, Don Marcotte, Bruins broadcaster Andy Brickley, Hall-of-Famer Brad Park and Bruins legend Ray Bourque.

The event to support Somerville Youth Hockey will begin at 5 p.m. with a youth hockey game and finish with the Bruins Alumni vs. Somerville Police game. Raffles and auction items will be on hand.

“Hockey is a very expensive sport and events such as this help to give all Somerville children a chance to learn and play a great sport. This also will help to keep Somerville Youth Hockey (SYH) as one of the lowest priced programs in the area. Come down and join us on the 27th to see the stars of the past and maybe a future hockey star or two” said Mayor Curtatone.

Sponsors of the Event Include Winter Hill Bank, Mayor Curtatone, Bonney Automotive, Ray Zongetti, Green and Yellow Cab Co., Pats Tow and Somerville Car Wash. Sponsors are still being added at this time. Ad book space is still available as are gift certificates and other auction items all to benefit youth hockey.

“It is always fun to work with people like Officer Jeff DiGregorio, Coach Rich Lavey, and Jill Guardia, President of SYH, to help with an event to keep hockey tuition low in Somerville. We hope this can be a hockey reunion of sorts, with many people visiting family here in Somerville. Come down and check out the newly improved rink and remember back to when you were on the ice or cheering for the Highlanders in high school,” said Ron Bonney, Chairman of the Somerville Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids and will be sold at the door on the day of the event.  For advance tickets contact Jill Guardia, Somerville Youth Hockey, at 617-513-6870 or at the Somerville Police Station.  If you would like to run an ad in the program or support at a higher level contact RonBonney@aol.com.
