Good job with the Parade this year. Frank was right; this was the biggest Memorial Day Parade. A good job. The marchers did a great job and it appears that all on the sidelines enjoyed the parade as well. The local politicians passed out flags, and plenty of them were marching. Alderman Sean O’Donovan, after a leg injury recently (we hear was out getting signatures) had to ride, but at least he and most of the elected officials showed up. You can go online to our Web site and view all the marchers.

Congratulations to Mayor Joe Curtatone who recently received his Masters Degree from Harvard University this past Friday. A full time mayor with a large family and this guy finds time to do his Masters. He is an inspiration to a lot of us here in the city. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive his diploma which was given out last Thursday evening. His grandmother passed away and the wake was Thursday night.

We saw Ms. Cindy last week from the Council on Aging and she’s confident that she will be back at work heading up the agency again very soon. She appears to be very positive throughout all this mess. Too bad drama had to be put in to the work place here at the city office of COA. Speaking of COA, we hear Lady J hasn’t been around this past week, so maybe she’s home resting from all that stress.

Looks like Alderman Ward 3 Tom Taylor has some opposition. Stephen A. Delani of Berkeley Street pulled papers to run for Ward 3 Alderman. No one yet for School Committee other than the incumbents. Hard to believe that no one is going to oppose any of the School Board members. We did hear that some were pushing Donna Romeo, a well known PTA figure to run in Ward 4. We heard that she just might be thinking of it. Speaking of Donna Romero, we also heard that her husband was rumored to be looking at the Ward 4 Alderman’s seat. There is still time to pull papers, and it would be interesting to see some other races here. Call the election department at 617-625-6600 for details. There’s still plenty of time to pull papers to run for office. June 27 is the last day to take out papers.

Get well to a bunch of our friends out there: Steve Dalrymple of Steve and Sons – a big get well for him. He’s a nice guy and we miss him around the square. Billy Chambers of Spring Hill is in rehab over in Woburn and won’t be home for a few more weeks. He must be going nuts over there. And a special get well to Kathy Webber who is home recuperating after surgery. Kathy is a wonderful woman – not to mention a hardy party person here in the Ville! And finally, a get well to Mark Healey who is also recovering from surgery. We wish them all well.

So first we heard Andover or Dover, still not correct on that…but now we hear that Lester Ralph lookalike Bill White is moving directly across the street from the Mayor in the Ten Hills. We were told by someone that his only buddy, Alderman Sullivan, who lives next door to the Mayor, got him the apartment. We’re not sure on that, but in any case can you imagine the Mayor and his lovely wife Nancy and the boys who were there first – now he’s being surrounded by Alderman at work and at home? Maybe White is looking to be closer to the Mayor? Or maybe he’s there to spy on the Mayor for his buddy Rebekah in Ward 6? Or maybe the Ten Hills is the place to be? Or maybe another Alderman will move to the other side of the Mayor? Can you imagine?

Sorry to see Michael Stenger leaving the area. He recently moved back to upstate NY (Fayetteville to be exact). Mike was offered and accepted the position of Dean at ITT Technical Institute. A lot of us here in the ‘Ville will miss him. He’s a great guy and our loss is NY’s gain. We wish him the best in his new position. But remember, he’s not just a Professor – he’s Dean Mike.
