Earn $250 for the workday, 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The City of Somerville is seeking standby polling place workers for the upcoming State Primary Election on Tuesday, September 1. Many poll workers are needed to support operations and conduct a successful election.

Standby poll workers must be ready to step in as needed on Election Day: Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The workday starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends after the polls close at 8 p.m., with a two-hour break. Poll workers would serve in the following role: 

  • Inspectors – Check off names as voters check in, assist at the voting machine, or staff the demonstration table. Inspectors also help set up and break down the precinct. The compensation is $250 per day.
