
Theresa Germaine Romanoff (“Terry”), age 83, of Somerville, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 12, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on April 14, 1943, in Waterville, Maine, she was the daughter of William and Germaine Prevost and the sister of Eugene Prevost. Terry grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts, and graduated from Somerville High School. She went on to enjoy a long and rewarding career with the City of Cambridge Human Service Programs and the Council on Aging, where she served as a counselor, outreach social worker, activities coordinator, and facilities coordinator/director for the North Cambridge Senior Center until her retirement in 2002.
Terry will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to serving others. She devoted countless hours to volunteer work and had a deep love for the many animals she cared for throughout her life. She also had a passion for traveling, playing Scrabble, and listening to Elvis Presley. Before her illness, she was an active member of St. Catherine of Genoa Parish, where she sang in the church choir, and she was also a former member of the Somerville Community Chorus.
Terry is survived by her husband, William Romanoff; her daughter, Tania Medeiros, and her husband, Fernando Medeiros; her son, Richard Romanoff, and his partner, Andrinanda Halim; her grandson, Fernand Medeiros; her brother, Eugene Prevost; her nieces, Nicole Prevost and Michelle Prevost; and her beloved cats, Chloe and Rufus. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Germaine Prevost.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 185 Summer Street, Somerville, MA 02143. All who knew and loved Terry are warmly invited to attend as we celebrate her life and cherish her memory. Her kindness, love, and generosity will not be forgotten.
