Poet Kitty Beer reports: “I write novels about climate change. I also write short stories. At one time I was a freelance reporter specializing in environmental issues.”

Kitty Beer
Old Lady Blues
I no longer dash,
Nor do I sashay anywhere.
But I waddle
And I trundle
And I stagger and I stumble,
And I get there anyway.
My boyfriend’s eighty, and he’s
Bald and deaf.
But he cuddles very nicely
And his fingers still are deft.
When I sing it’s but a treble,
When I giggle it’s a cackle.
But dozing in the sunlight,
I am a ferocious rebel.
