In what some consider a stunning upset, incumbent Mayor Katjana Ballantyne was edged out of her bid for reelection by challengers Willie Burnley, Jr. and Jake Wilson, who will face off for the office in the upcoming Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 4.

Katjana Ballantyne was way out of her league. While it’s good to see her go, the remaining two are essentially more of the same or possibly even worse. When you look at both of their agendas, especially the ones their not openly discussing now, it gives one insight into why MAGA exists as both are out of touch with the mainstream population.

Here is what to expect from the new mayor and the city council:

    1. Higher taxes and water bills
    2. More and higher fees
    3. More control on your home, including a push for rent control and limits on condo conversions
    4. More parking restrictions
    5. More bike lanes
    6. An oversized speed bump on every block
    7. More migration of the Mass and Cass crowd into Somerville
    8. More small businesses closing down
    9. A likely ban on backyard barbecues
    10. More nanny state policies and enforcements
    11. More zany politics that have nothing to do with local issues
    12. Deaf ears and continued broken promises to get back to you on issues that you present.

It will be when The Who sang “Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.” in “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”
