Police officers were dispatched to the Home Depot on Mystic Ave. on reports of a possible shoplifter in the store.

The Loss Prevention Officer notified the officers while en route that a man, later identified by police as Steven Garcia, of Boston, who had been previously trespassed for shoplifting was inside the store.

As the officers were making their way to the store, the Loss Prevention Officer updated them that he observed Garcia conceal multiple items inside his backpack.

Upon arrival, the officers spotted the Loss Prevention Officer and Garcia standing outside the store exit. The officers escorted Garcia back inside the Loss prevention Office.

A search of Garcia’s person yielded no evidence, but a search of his backpack reportedly revealed that he had concealed two Dewalt drills, and two battery packs with a charging station.

The Loss Prevention Officer generated a receipt to reflect the amount of the stolen merchandise equaling $478.00.

A query of Garcia through Somerville dispatch revealed that he had two active arrest warrants.

The officers learned from the Loss Prevention Officer that Garcia was trespassed from all Home Depot stores from an incident that occurred in Everett.

Garcia was subsequently placed under arrest on charges of larceny under $1200 and trespassing, and on warrant charges of drug obtained by fraud, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, utter false prescription, and failure to stop or yield.
