
The Somerville Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is expanding access to free vaccination clinics to help residents stay healthy through the fall and winter. They are also sharing updated flu and COVID-19 vaccine guidance for the 2025–26 season. Clinics will be held throughout the city from October 2025 through April 2026.

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville Arts Council invite community members to close out the 2025 SomerStreets season with a festive and spooky Monster Mash on Sunday, October 19, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Somerville Avenue (School St. to Washington St.). In the event of rain, festivities will take place on Sunday, October 26.

The 20th Annual Honk Festival of Activist Street Bands took to the streets of Somerville this past weekend, featuring a wide variety of musical/activist events at Tufts University, in Medford (HONK! U Conference on Thursday), Davis Square, in Somerville (street music, workshops, lantern parades on Friday and Saturday), and Harvard Square, in Cambridge (with a vast parade out of Davis Sq., then participating in Oktoberfest on Sunday).

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, along with Somerville’s Department of Public Works and Parks & Recreation Department, invites all for a hauntingly good time at the fourth annual “Truck O’ Treat” on Thursday, October 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. outside City Hall (93 Highland Avenue). In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Thursday, October 30.

American democracy is now under constant assault and is contracting. Yet the proposed City Charter that will be on the November 4th ballot would deny Somerville’s citizens a critical right that is enjoyed by voters in 83% of Massachusetts’ cities.
