From COVID response and recovery to affordability for all, from racial and social justice to transparency, 100-day agenda released
In her inaugural address on Monday, January 3, newly elected Mayor Katjana Ballantyne laid out her vision for an administration that is inclusive and transparent, examines every issue through an equity lens, and strives to ensure progress made in the city positively affects all residents and businesses. She also promised to announce her 100-day work plan, and today she delivers on that promise with the release of the 100 Day Somerville ‘Progress for All’ Agenda. In the heart of Somerville there is a 120-year-old armory building that stores resources for local artists to defend cultural spaces within the community.
Stephanie Scherpf is the Director of the Center for the Arts at the Armory. For 12 years the organization has served as a cultural hub for growing artists to experiment, perform, and connect with the Somerville community.

COVID-19 vaccine booster clinics will be held January 12, 19, and 26 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the City Hall Annex, 50 Evergreen Ave. The Moderna booster will be offered. Registration is required. Please register at tinyurl.com/SomervilleVax or call 311. The clinic is free, and open to all people 18 years or older, regardless of immigration status or health insurance. Identification is not required. Please bring your vaccine card with you to your appointment, and arrive at the time of your appointment to avoid overcrowding in the building.

Red snapper is a sweet, mild, and meaty fish. By roasting the fish whole, it keeps the meat really moist. I usually cook cod or haddock fillets, but wanted something different. By purchasing a whole fish you have the advantage of seeing how fresh the fish it. For instance, you can see the freshness a few different ways.

From Somerville artist Jenn Wood’s website: “Her work has been selected by distinguished jurors and curators from museums and galleries in New England, New York, and California. Jenn was awarded a summer residency at the C-Scape Dune Shack in Provincetown and also at the Plumbing Museum residency in MA. Recently, her work was included in a collage biennial exhibition with Denise Bibro Fine Art, Chelsea NYC, and #ICPConcerned Exhibition at the ICP Photography Museum in NYC. Jenn is a juried member of the Painting Center Art File Gallery in Chelsea, and shows work at the Kentler Flatfiles at Kentler International Drawing Space in Brooklyn. Additional artworks for exhibitions in the Boston and NYC areas, and CT were selected by Paul Ha, Marcela Guerrero, Howard Yezerski, Camilo Alvarez, Jane Szabo, Lisa Hayes Williams, Al Miner, Adam Peck, Lexi Lee Sullivan, Beth Kantrowitz, and Joseph Carroll.”

Joanne DeSimone Reynolds is the author of two chapbooks, Comes a Blossom and Brought to Our Knees.
