AK-47 assault rifle recovered in residential building in Somerville

On Wednesday, February 18, Somerville Police investigators assisted partners from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in recovering a military-grade AK-47 assault rifle that had been hidden in the common area of a residential building in Somerville. Two loaded magazines were also recovered. Special thanks to the DEA for their hard work and continued partnership in helping keep our community safe.

26006536: On 2/3/26 at approximately 10:35 a.m., Somerville Police responded to an apartment complex on Day St for a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the property manager who stated someone broke into the storage area in the basement and stole a package. Officers identified the suspect.

MBTA announces March service changes

Service changes are taking place in March to support Orange Line signal upgrades and the North Station Terminal Area Signal System Improvement Project.

The MBTA  announced service changes in March on the Orange, Fitchburg, Haverhill, Lowell, and Newburyport/Rockport lines. The MBTA is also reminding riders of rescheduled Red Line work taking place the weekend of February 21 – 22.

Council on Aging’s Valentine’s Day Luncheon
