25072399: On 11/18/25 at approximately 12:41 p.m., Somerville Police responded to a business on Prescott St. for a report of a past breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated someone had broken in and rummaged through the file cabinets. Nothing was reported missing.

MBTA winter 2026 service updates

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced its service updates, which go into effect on Sunday, December 14.

Among these updates, 21 bus routes in total will increase frequency, with ten of those being upgraded to operate every 15 minutes or better. This is part of the larger Better Bus program aimed at improving the bus routes system wide.

Inclusive swings Ribbon Cutting at Hoyt Playground

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, and the Somerville Parks and Urban Forestry Division (PSUF), and community members celebrate the completion of an important accessibility project bringing 10 new inclusive swings to playgrounds across Somerville, increasing the percentage of city parks with inclusive swings from 39% to 83%.

I am so sorry to hear of Charles Coe’s death. He died in his home in Cambridge from a heart attack. I first interviewed him for a small South End magazine, and since then I have read, served on the NEPC Board with him, reviewed him, and was on a panel with him to select the Somerville Poet Laureate. Here is an interview I conducted with him years ago… Fine man, poet, teacher, performer, activist and citizen…
