Soon a taste of France will come to Somerville in the form of a bakery, Michette Bakery, established by Thomas Ferté is set to open in the East Somerville area. Ferté, originally from a town 40 kilometers outside of Paris moved to New York to work as a lawyer.

The story of our ski trip is one of my favorite memories of my time at Somerville high school. The following story takes place in 1970 when I was a junior.

The business of the City of Somerville was on the agenda at the latest meeting of the Somerville City Council.

The Somerville City Council convened for its regular meeting on Thursday, February 9, to debrief recent committee meetings and to discuss a myriad of items including the status of rodent control efforts in East Somerville, enforcing bike lane laws, and celebrating Black History Month.

Bess Paupeck started by gathering clocks and watches for the exhibit she planned in 2019. Paupeck, an artist and museum professional, was not interested in these objects simply for their own sake. Her thinking then was that “these are almost defunct objects -if you keep them, why do you keep them?”

The Somerville Arts Council and the Inside-Out Gallery present Kinetic Explorations of Color, works by Michael Robbins. Michael Robbins is an artist, psychotherapist, poet, and Qi Gong/Taoist meditation teacher who lives and works out of the Vernon Street Studios in Somerville. As a native of NYC, he was fueled by vast accessibility of art and culture and by growing-up in a creative household. His father, a sculptor, was one of the founders of the Expressive Therapy movement and his mother directs one of the oldest children’s theatres in NYC. The richness and excitement of this environment made a profound impression, influencing Michael’s career and various artistic pursuits.

What’s the difference between a frittata, a quiche, and a tart? A frittata and quiche are basically the same, both are savory dishes with the only difference being the quiche has a crust. But now we add a tart into the mix.

The Presidents Day holiday puts us in mind of those great leaders who governed us throughout our country’s tumultuous history: The American Revolution, the Civil War, two world wars, the Great Depression, the Civil Rights movement, Vietnam, and so on.
