Last minute campaigning for the upcoming State Senate race. Supporters for Everett City Councilor Sal DiDomenico Michael Albano and Tom Flaherty rallied at the Cambridge-Somerville line hours before tonight's debate

 
 

A Medford man who robbed and assaulted as many as seven women on Cambridge and Somerville streets will spend the next two decades behind bars.

Vincent Primo, 41, of Medford, pled guilty on the eve of trial to all charges which include armed robbery, unarmed robbery, armed assault with intent to rob, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and credit card fraud over $250. A judge sentenced Primo to 16 to 20 years at MCI Cedar Junction, with 5 years probation.

Nearly 12 years after a flood forced firefighters into a trailer adjacent to the Union Square firehouse, sharing living space with rodents had become a fact of life there.

It was when the rodents crawled into the ceiling and died that the situation became unbearable.

A Newton man was arrested on Powder House Boulevard Friday night after he allegedly drove drunk and caused an accident, sending one man to the hospital.

Oren Shahar, 33, of 21 Oak Avenue, Newton, was arrested and charged with drunk driving after allegedly crossing a double yellow line and plowing into an oncoming driver. Police said there were no skid marks before the impact.

filled with three foot holes and missing concrete. Commuter trains pass
below and thousands of cars travel the bridge each day.

Pedestrians and motorists are complaining of an overpowering natural gas odor coming from two Washington Street parking spots that reportedly fills cars parked there with an overpowering smell forcing motorists to be nauseous and pass out.

The two parking spaces located opposite 231 Washington St, next door to Ricky's flower
market  become so odorous that pedestrians walking by have complained.

Two Somerville men in the middle of a cocaine transaction tried different methods to get away from drug unit cops Saturday morning in East Somerville.

Jose Perez, 35, of 65 Pinckney St., allegedly jumped out of a car and ran down Austin Street and began cutting through back yards on Pennsylvania Avenue to elude police. Joseph Galluzzo, 51, of 9 Austin St., allegedly stayed in his car and accelerated through a crowded parking lot and onto Mystic Avenue to get away.

Monday was the fifth anniversary of Senator Charlie Shannon's passing, hardly seems possible — seems like yesterday. Charlie was a great guy, well liked by many here in Somerville and liked by many sides of the Political isle as well. It was very nice that Senator Pat Jehlen made a motion Monday in the Senate chambers to suspend the business in memory of Senator Shannon.
