A Somerville man has been found guilty of murder in the first degree for the October 2, 2009 stabbing death of Sheila Dos Santos, 26, of Everett, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public.

Two years doesn’t sound like a very long time to spend searching for success as a bakery owner. Katie Rooney, part owner of 3 Little Figs bakery on Highland Avenue, sees it a little differently. “I guess it depends on your perspective,” said Rooney. “For me it seems like it was a pretty long time.”

Somerville Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Central Street in Somerville early Saturday morning at around 2:30 a.m.

Reportedly, a Boston man was shot while he was walking on Central Street between Vernon and Medford Streets. He sustained a wound from a single shot fired from a passing car.

I recently purchased a beautiful original watercolor painting of the Rosebud Diner in Davis Square. It cost me just $12 dollars but the point is that it was the last thing I needed to buy. My house is like a museum already.

Somerville street sweeping regulations in effect April 2 through December 31; New “Somerville Sweeper” system announced for Somerville residents

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville Traffic and Parking Department remind all residents that regular street sweeping schedules will resume beginning Monday, April 2 and continue through December 31, 2012.

I don’t believe that romantic love has much to do with truly loving. We see romance in movies that evoke our longing, inspire delight, and gratify our hope that two characters will realize they are meant for each other and find happiness.

The annual “Guns N’ Hoses” hockey game, between the Somerville Police Department and the Somerville Fire Department, will be held  Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Rink on Somerville Avenue.

In its 10th year, the theme is “The Youth of Somerville,”  proceeds from the game will benefit the Somerville Youth Hockey Association.
