The City of Somerville has a very active and truly unique artist’s scene, as is evident by the never-ending stream of events, gallery showings and more that come through each week. This trend continues next weekend, as local artist Heidi Reynolds will bring her Rolling Gallery to Union Square from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12.

The only physical trace of the convent’s existence.

Boys Baseball

The St. Clement Anchormen improved their overall Catholic Central League record to 2-3 with a 5-4 win over Christo Rey of Boston on Sunday, May 6. Freshman Marty Rose (Charlestown) was impressive on the mound pitching the entire game and giving up 4 runs. With two outs and the tying run on third base in the sixth, Rose left the runner stranded by striking out the batter and ending the inning. Rose walked only two batters and struck out seven. Offensively, Rose chipped in by blasting a triple and knocking in a run. Senior team mate Alex Fagundes (Cambridge) scored a run and earned an RBI with a single. Senior Joe Codair (Stoneham) played solidly behind the plate and air hit a single in giving the Anchormen lead which they never relinquished. The Anchormen face off this week against their league rivals Pope John.

Police were called to Red Bones Restaurant last week on reports of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers witnessed two men on the street outside of the restaurant engaged in a heated exchange.

Somerville High senior class officers Zoe King and Mattie Barber-Bockelman were among the first to sign the Somerville High School Prom Pledge at a pre-prom seminar last week.

When Somerville High seniors step into prom night Friday evening, they’ll find the Cambridge Marriott ballroom suitably sparkling, illustrating a “Diamonds Are Forever” theme chosen to express the idea that the friendships of the Class of 2012 will last a lifetime. And amidst all those diamonds will be another key piece of prom décor: an eight-foot-long banner signed by hundreds of seniors, pledging to enjoy a safe, chemical-free prom.

On Sunday, May 6, former mayor and present Register of Deeds held his 28th Scholarship Breakfast at Anthony’s in Malden with approximately 300 friends in attendance. Brune had as is guest speakers Secretary of State William Galvin, who has attended the Brune breakfast for the  last 15 years, and Middlesex County Sheriff Peter J Koutoujian.

The Head-Out Angled parking pilot program will be implemented on May 15 on a section of Bow Street in Somerville.

The Somerville Traffic and Parking department invited residents to attend a recent community open house to discuss an innovative pilot program called Head-Out Angled Parking. The meeting was held at Properzi Manor  in Union Square.

Save this Thursday evening, May 10, for “The IBall: Keeping It Surreal” – a fundraiser for the Center for Arts at the Armory located at 191 Highland Avenue here in the ‘Ville. VIP reception 6 p.m. to 7p.m. General admission is $25. The VIP reception is $75. Good friends Danny Kallis and former Mayor Gene Brune, will be there along with a special guest speaker for the evening.
