The backroom lounge area of the Rosebud Diner in Davis Square was once called The Surrey Room. One of its nicknames was The Sorry Room. When I asked people to share their Surrey Room memories a lot of them said, “Sorry, can’t talk about it.” There seems to be a code of silence that some past patrons still abide by today. Here’s what I know from my own experience and from talking to some friends.

Jessica Labus headlined at the bar Precinct recently and she’ll be playing solo there frequently, even though she has a knack of attracting performers for her band. She recently arrived in Boston, from New York, to recruit a band for the new music she’s working on.

On Thursday, April 18, 2013,  SCATV filmed the Candlelight Vigil that was held at the Somerville City Hall Concourse in honor of the victims of the attack at the Boston Marathon. Mayor Joe Curtatone, Representative Michael Capuano, the Somerville Board of Alderman, Somerville School Committee, Tufts University, and the Somerville Road Runners participated in the moving event.

University of Michigan research finds that about a third of American homeowners would like to live in walkable urban neighborhoods such as those that comprise most of our city. But only 5-to-10% of metropolitan housing is located in such neighborhoods.

While engaged in an ongoing investigation of alleged heroin trafficking at an East Somerville residence, members of the Somerville Police Department Drug Control Unit made observations of reportedly suspicious activities last week, leading to the arrest of several individuals on drug violation charges.
