
The City of Somerville would like to invite all interested vendors to participate in the Summertime in Somerville Fireworks Celebration on Thursday, June 27 (rain date is on Friday, June 28). The city is planning to have up to five (5) concession stands and vendors selling items such as balloons, toys (no toy guns permitted), food and beverage, etc. at the event. The city will choose the location of these stands and will judge proposals on the following criteria: all licenses held by the business must be current, type of food/beverage/type of product or toy being sold, quality and price of product.

Claire Converse, 49, of 286B Beacon St., June 4, 8:58 p.m., arrested at home on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Daniel Roderick, a four-year electrical student in the Somerville High School’s Center for Career and Technical Education (CTE), was selected for the IBEW Local 103 pre-Apprentice Partnership Program at Bent Electric. The apprenticeship is a five-year program in which participating students become members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. IBEW Local 103 represents all of eastern Massachusetts.

Remember your first job? My first job was delivering newspapers – I used to pick them up at Abe’s office (Davis Square News Agency) on Highland Avenue where the new cupcake place is. I had the “Francesca” route – which included my own street.

Those who are the most enthusiastic about the City of Somerville’s commitment to “walkability” and the Somerville By Design program seem to be disproportionately those who have the most transportation choices. I am one of them.
