Last week’s story, The Class of ’81 turns 50, was written by Anthony Accardi Jr.
One of my sisters’ former boyfriends had a 1967 blue “goat.” A GTO with 4 on the floor. It was the coolest car I had ever seen up until then. Even when he popped the clutch and the car ended up on the sidewalk in front of the Middlesex Bank on Highland Ave. in Davis Square. By the way, he was cited for recklessness and driving barefooted. But boy, was that car nice.

Saturday, August 10, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Somerville Arts Council will transform Union Square into a bustling outdoor night market featuring the food of local restaurants, including Casa B, Ebi Suchi and Taqueria La Mexicana.
Fire throwers, street performers and craftsters will populate the plaza, and there will be interactive food-themed activities. This night of global gastronomy should heat up the square considerably.
Electronics Recycling Program now offered daily; Unwanted electronics should be brought to DPW yard for disposal.

Beginning this week, the city will expand its electronics recycling program by offering a recycling service on weekdays for unwanted household electronics at no cost to residents.

This week’s breezy, cooler temperatures might make it easy to forget that only a few weeks ago, the city had to open cooling centers as we endured the third heat wave of a summer that’s only halfway over. So why am I still sweating this week? I’m sweating the undeniable scientific facts about climate change, driven by human behavior, and the warming of the planet that scientists have long been predicting.
