This Thursday night, the 19th, at the Holiday Inn, East Somerville Main Streets Holiday Celebration takes place. They celebrate the holidays and another successful year for the East Somerville community. The Holiday Celebration will feature live music, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and various door prizes, including a one night ‘Stay-cation’ at the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Celebration will be held 6-9 p.m. at Metropolitan Square inside the Holiday Inn at 30 Washington Street in Somerville. Please RSVP to info@eastsomervillemainstreets.org. Six 8th grade football players from the Somerville Youth Football Program have been chosen to play for Team Mass, an All-Star team made of 35 of the best players from around the state.

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and Ward 1 Alderman Maureen Bastardi invite all interested community members to the second in a series of discussions to determine design plans for the new Symphony Park, to be constructed on the vacant lot a the intersection of Pearl and Pinckney Streets in 2014. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Bryant Manor, 75 Myrtle St. An initial community meeting was held in July 2013 to discuss the vision for the vacant lot on Pearl and Florence Streets and to gather information for the State’s Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA).

It’s now more than fairly likely that the old McGrath Hwy. structure will be coming down, to be replaced by a ground level boulevard, as recommended by MassDOT and others who have been involved in the process of determining the best solution for the future of the thoroughfare.
